I'm guessing if it's a 4M Avon you've got a searider, in which case none of the 30L tanks are likely to go under the seat.

Having said that, 2 Hulk 30L tanks fit quite nicely side by side between the transom stays. Hulks can be got new from loads of places for around £30. Try Port Edgar - they're probably closest to you.

hulks are good, had 2 x 30 in console of my 4m (non stardard console)

and 2x22 litres between transom legs on my 5.4 and A Frama
you can get some good deals at boat jumbles if youre lucky (new ones too)

unfortunately for the cost of driving to the nearest boat jumble (unless I am missing one) he could buy a new tank.

or Seaspan at Granton? depending on where you are. My searching suggests that by the time you add shipping (these are quite bulky) this is one of the rare occassions that you can't save significant money on the price your local chandlery offers.

No offence taken, the Barrus tanks are very strong though and can be used laid down or stood up.

Yep, I was climbing over them today and they don't flex with 16.5 stone on them.

That's very sturdy and probably well over-engineered for the required function.

Tanks sound tough too

They make quite a handy seat with a pad strapped to the top too
