Stevens 1140 private boat share syndicate on the Thames

I'm one of the owners of a very nice Stevens 1140 Dutch steel cruiser based on the Thames which we run as a private boat share syndicate.

It looks like one of the shares will be coming up for sale this year, so I thought I'd post a heads up for anyone here who might be interested. Price has yet to be confirmed, but think cheap used family RIB. Not Searider money, but definitely not Scorpion money either!

If you think you might be interested then you can get in touch via the web site below, or send me a PM.

This share is definitely for sale now. It's not my share, but PM me if you're interested and I'll be very happy to answer any questions.

That share got snapped up, but we have another one come up as one of the owners is retiring from boating. This is a one eighth share, giving four weeks use per year (this year's dates are April 18, May 30, August 29, September 26), and is for sale at £13,500.

Out of interest John what happens to the other weeks - is she out of the water?

4 (weeks) x 8 (shares) = 32 weeks

Or does it not work that simply?

The boat is laid up for the winter, generally just winterised and kept on the mooring unless it needs to come out for any work. We also use the down time for any upgrades and planned maintenance.

There's nothing to say that it could never be used in the off season, but we generally find that four weeks a year is plenty and it avoids the time of year when spate conditions are most likely.

OK, our new syndicate members who joined last year loved it so much that they have decided that a share isn't enough for them and they bought their own boat. This means that they are quite keen to find a new owner for their share and are happy to negotiate.

As well as an equal equity share in a very smart and well maintained boat, this gives you membership of a well established syndicate with everything in place to give you four weeks of hassle-free cruising each year at a fraction of the cost of running your own boat.

That share is now sold by the way. There may be another vacancy in the syndicate next year due to retirement, so if you are interested drop me a line and I'll keep you up to date.

Stevens 1140 private boat share syndicate on the Thames

That share got snapped up and the syndicate has a new member.

With eight owners we're averaging less than one share sold each year but there's a mailing list if you'd like to know when another share becomes available:

A heads up for anyone who might be interested to let you know that there will be a share available from the 2020 season if you fancy a boat share on the Thames.

Shimmering Steel

Hi John,
We are interested in the share available as advertised on Boat Share. I have been doing lots of research and came up with your contact details on here, I hope you don’t mind me contacting you through this link. Is the share still available for Shimmering Steel please? We are based in Didcot, Oxfordshire and are keen to explore this further
Many thanks
Emma
