power trim and tilt on scrap 40hp engine

Hi,
I am looking for a 40hp yamaha of mercury scrap engine that has full working power trim and tilt. the motor would have to bee free or very cheap.


any help would be good,

If it's a yam motor have a look at the online microfiches for horsepowers up & down form yours - you'd be surprised how many share the same PT unit......

Also is it actually siezed? I had a dead one that was repaired by replacing the corroded (& therefore not as springy as they once were) brush springs. That ans a new seal ring for the case & it powers up & down quite happily now. For the sake of undoing 3 screws it;s worth a look. (but have a bucket under the engine to catch the fluid! )

http://www.ishopmarine.com/ishop/store/yamaha/ Then click on the "outboard" section of the parts lists.

Once you've found yours, write down the part number(s) of the PT bits, then try other horsepowers & years, there's a good chance that the PT unit will be "carryover" from other engines.

Then have a look at their Mariner listings, same comment applies (but with a different paint job)
