why do you really want a warranty? look at the engine, do the checks , run it up and take it home!!

I'd still be tempted to go for it. Does sound a strange set-up right enough. I know another Yammie dealer on the IOM that will only give warranty if uplifted. He doesn't send via courier which is fair enough. Look it this way - if the engine is as good as it looks, then what's £600. Saves you the bother of fitting, plus if the CD ignition goes, trim and tilt or starter motor, etc, then at least you're covered. As part of the deal - get a compression test on all cylinders and change impeller as a matter of course.

thanks for all the advice /help, have walked away from this one, extra £600 just to get the warranty is a joke..... they would fit in half a day ish, i would have to work 5 nights at 10 hours a night for that, so the way i look at it is they can stick it up there A#SE.... GOT MY EYE ON AN EVINRUDE FICHT 90HP V4, WITH WARRANTY ETC ETC OH AND I AM ALOUD TO FIT IT MYSELF,AND STILL GET THE WARRANTY, FANCY THAT......

The Yam's a far better motor for a 5.4 Searider.

If its pre 2002 you'll need a lifetime warranty

I'd sooner a bullet proof yam 90 with no warranty than a fucht oh I mean Ficht that's for sure.

Do the usual checks that you would have had it been from a private seller (where no warranty is standard) and fit it yourself!

offer him £2,500 as"scrap" and see what he says

Another vote for the Yamaha too. Can't go far wrong with a good quality Japanese name. If it comes to selling it on in future the Yam will prove a better choice. As said above buy it as If it's a private sale and give it a once over with plugs/impeller and you can't go far wrong.

Just buy the yam. They are bullet proof. The ficht is err c..p. !!

Are the evinrude 90hp fitch really so bad, or is it just because people prefer yamahas, no one yet has said why they are so bad....any offers to explain why? surely there are good yams and bad yams (and yam yams....sorry just a wolverhampton joke).... isnt it like choosing a car, i hate renaults and think they are a bag of poo, but they sell loads, ive heard of 3 blowing there ECU'S just outside of warranty and its cost the owners a fortune to fix them....so please enlighten me why these 90hp fitch's are so bad..... oh and can you extend the oil line from the bottle to the engine without any problems, cheers....

The Fichts have a terrible reputation and quite rightly so. If it pre 2002 forget it! Google it

as others have said i'd happily take that yam with no warranty if you can see it running and normal checks etc before purchasing. you may even be able to offer maybe 2k and get it?

forget about the ficht, very poor engines, google will yield many results.
