I have a 5500 and it started (intermittently) dropping the satalites. (i.e could not see them.)

I bought a cheap (ariel) one on ebay for about £10 and it works fine. I ended up buying some SMA connectors and a set of terminating pliers and re-terminitated the end of the old one. The original now works ok and I use the cheapo as a spare and leave it in the dry box.

However the 5500 has now started to loose the charts for some reason and again this is intermittent. Looks like new plotter time.
