The EU banned the sale of *new* 2 strokes from dealers (in their opinion - evil and polluting) for private use around the mid 2000's hence the latest ones you see generally are 2006 and hence the high prices - supply and demand. If you want one for business/commercial use and can prove this you can still buy new.

Ahhhh Didn't realise it was a 2stroke - didnt take much notice other than it seemed expensive and was in a bed...
