control box wanted
hi all
im after a control box, do like the look of the quicksilver 2000 type. its for my 20hp mariner/yamaha outboard dates around 1986. dont mind if it has electrics loom, but i am just after the use for cables for throttle and gear shift. if it had the cables aswell would be a bonus. 12 feet im after. but control box would be cool.
please get intouch Matt, i live in Devon

I've got a Teleflex recessed type single lever control box here, with Merc cable fitment, a bit like this:

....and if I look hard enough, I should be able to find a pair of unused Merc 12' cables.

Hi i don't know to much about this one you have,it looks quite small, does it have a warm up lever ? like on the quicksilver ones ? also if you did find some cables 12 feet approximation, slightly longer rather than shorter. someone pm me last night to say they might have a quicksilver one knocking around, if you don't mind could you wait till i hear back from them today, its just to be , how much would you want for the lever plus cables if found ? thank you for getting intouch Matt

It's got a neutral lock, where you lift the lever upwards to disengage the lock and also a warm up function, where you slide the lever away from the console to open the throttle without engaging forward gear.
I was thinking of £40 for the box and £10 each for the cables.
I'll take a photo of the actual unit if you like, as it is slightly different to the one in the photo I posted earlier.

hi again thanks for getting back to me sounds like a good set up, thing is i have just heard back from a guy who i originally first asked and he also has a Yamaha control box, but no cables and waiting to hear back weather it is a pull to open control box which is what i need. Do you know if the control box you have is Pull to open, i think what it means is would the cable be pulled towards the front of the boat to open the throttle, also would the cables work with my outboard. I am sorry about all the question, but i do need it to be right and i have little knowledge of this side of things, thank you very much for your help wait to hear back from you . Matt
