Bottle rack for diving cylinders suitable for a 4.5 metre Avon Rib. I have searched everywhere but as yet have no come across one or anybody that could make one. If anyone knows the where-abouts of one at reasonable cost could you please let me know.

thanks

aux. engine

Hi all
Any recommendations on auxiliary engine ? Thought it might be sensible after prop encountered plastic bag last weekend (with our luck we'll hit that fridge one day Pete...)

Hi My friens is selling a 4 hp sailmate which we discussed. if you guys are interested give me a call on 07774 401963. It's in my container at Saxon wharf so if you want you can borrow it and try it out before you buy it.

Cheers

Paul, I was wondering about this last Sunday. You are very short of space between the A frame and the engine. You might have to go for a bracket as well. One option would be to motor the boat up to Southampton and try Wavehumpers engine on the stern.

We discussed storage of aux engines a while back with lots of different views on the subject.

Pete

I've also got an old bracket which may be of use (going free)...it's slightly damaged, but it may be helpful for getting an idea of size and sorting out the three-dimensional conundrum of "would that fit there?"

Hi Stuart Pete & Richard,

Tried the Humper's 4 HP sailmate 4 stroke (thanks Hoppy) on the transom quite large really.

Go it on OK but that was about it. Couldn't turn it either way - A frame on one side Motor on the other !!!!

Would your (Richard ) bracket help or something like that. Can't quite see how - wouldn't it just move the Aux further Aft and still be in the way of the A frame ????

A friend of mine also has a small 3.5 Tohatsu as his Aux. Would such a little baby be suitable ??

Questions , questions , questions

Jackeen

Good question - don't know!!

The bracket lifts the engine and draws it closer to the transom when stowed, drops it and moves it out for use. Does this help?

As for what hp you need, I can only suggest trying a particular engine with your RIB. Would your friend lend you his 3.5? I guess it might be OK for a 5m - but that's just speculation as I've never tried this combination.
