Has any one ever tried filling one of these tanks? It strikes me as being a quite a fiddle to try and pore fuel into what is in effect a long soft bag?

It looks like the fuel equivalent of the old "poacher's pocket". I'd imagine you just hang it inside your raincoat and quietly fill it up

I saw a tidy V shaped bow version of this recently at a boat jumble. The SR4 owner in my company REFUSED to buy it

I fill two on a regular basis at a petrol station.

Stand it up on end, and as the fuel pours in, it actually gets more rigid.

They're great for small boats.

Cheers,

WMM

they are great ,until you get a few years on them and then some makes can start sweating fuel out if there is any wear on the material ,guy at our club had a trianglular one that fitted in the bow of his boat which sweated fuel out ,we think it was that vibration on the boats floor had rubbed or chafed the fabric down a bit over time ,, i have had a few of the sausage types and they have been fine one at least 20 years old ,,,good thing is ,, if you engine fuel pump stops you can always sit on it and squeeze the fuel into the carb ,

RIBase
I tend to fill mine from jerrycans, simply because it's easier. I haven't had any problems filling them at our local 'friendly' garage though.
