advice please

i have an old tornado 5.4 meter, with PU tubes, i am desperately trying to repair and float it again! i have heard a rumour that one can use sikkaflex windscreen glue instead of expensive two part PU glue! (i have a lot of guleing to do!) has anyone tried this before and results?

cheers everyone

..Sounds very doubful to me...PU is hard enough for DIY repairs, and if there's one thing you want right...it's a Boat you're relying on to keep you afloat!
You say you "a lot" of glueing!?... Maybe worth thinking about a re-tube??

Don't even think about it-if you have any chance of fixing it now, you won't have if you try and fix it with the wrong glue.

oh! wow ok, i think thats pretty straight then lol! no sikkaflex!! lol

retube is just not a viable option, way too expensive! my tubes are pretty good really, but the have peeled away from the transom (seriously annoying!) and just lifeline patches to attach! (new ones) thanks

I doubt that Sika is much, if any cheaper than the proper glue.

If that's too expensive, do you cry when you fill the tank?

Check what cleaners/thinners/activator etc you need with it though and follow the instructions to the letter. Glueing non-hypalon is a real awkward job.

advice please

Toby - you need to speak to Darren; he's from birchington and is the local rib repair man !!

If nothing else he sources the adhesive from Tidel and may be able to help with that.
