40 or 50 HP 4 Stroke Outboard

Our unit is next door to the local Sea Scouts and they are looking for a 40 or 50 4 stroke for an Avon SR4. The 50 would have to be one of the lighter models but for the 40 HP any of the well established manufacturers would be acceptable. We have offered to source this and fit it for free so they can afford to pay a decent price for a good engine.

If you have something suitable please let us know cheers

I used to be an instructor there when I was at Uni 10-12 years ago! Out of interest, what happened to the previous Yamaha engine? From memory, the whole setup was practically brand new at the time I was there.

15TH Southampton Sea Scouts

That's good news Paul. They still have them and they are still working fine. They have been almost given a SR4 Hull and are looking for an outboard for that.
they are then going to replace the Flatacraft Force 4 when the SR4 comes on line.

cheers Stu

RIBase
Couple of Yamaha F50s here. Not sure if too heavy for its intended use.

Glad to hear the group is still doing well, I used to be out every week in their other SR4!

Sadly I don't have any leads on any suitable engines, but hope you can find something for them. One of the Sea Cadet groups I now work with has an SR4 with a Yam 50 4-stroke which really makes it too tail heavy, so I think a 40 would be preferable, unless there is a very light 50hp option out there?

HI Paul,

I mentioned you to Clive today and he says hi and was full of praise for you. I agree with you about the Yammie 50. I think only a Suzi or Honda 50 would fit the bill as they are lighter weights.

cheers

Hi
Unfortunately i believe the are as they would have been perfect as the other could have been a spare for the other craft they have..

Thanks for the pointer however

cheers

Great to hear Clive is still keeping busy there, please pass on my best regards to him! I have very fond memories of all the boating I did there with the group, they are lucky to have a superb setup right beside the water.

I did look in last year when I was at SWAC for some training, but sadly the Scout unit wasn't open the nights I was there.

i have a believe it or not never used 1999 evinrude efi 50hp four stroke for sale we bought it still in its crate about 5 years ago and fitted it to a little speed boat but never finished the project, its been dry stored ever since.
we filled it with oil and test started it but its never even been run in never mind in the water.

dont know if this would be of interest to you?
