2008 Mercury Optimax 175 xl shaft, low hours

Up for sale is my Opti 175 in XL shaft with a 19p stainless prop.

Its done about 200 hours and has always been serviced annually. Quarterdeck marine in Plymouth used to do it but then Black Dog Marine in looe has done it for the past 4/5 years. Rob knows the engine very well. It has just been serviced by them so is basically a turn key unit

Its never let me down, has been fastidiously maintained and looks like new both inside and out.

I ll answer any questions I can but anything technical will have to be sent to Rob!

Stupidly,I forgot to take pics so will get some up ASAP. For a start heres one on the back of the rib from last year.

It comes with a top mount box and smart craft dials.

Cracking engine, sorry to see it go but I m having a crack with a four stroke now

£6000 ono

It's always hard to value genuine 1 owner low hours engines but I would say it's worth max £5000.

Not intending to offend.

It is however the rare Mecca of the 2.5 li Optimax as not many 175's were made and they're the same weight as the 150...

No offence taken...all I know is that the top mount was also extra and it's just been serviced so I'm not a million miles away...

And yes it is a stonking engine, never put a foot wrong

Agreed- could be quite sought after as very few 175s built. The premium over the 150 was massive.

Not quite sure why, though I was told it isn't just an Ecu change.

Great engine, with a real V6 growl at mid range as you come off the plane.
