10-15hp outboard

Hi there - I'm looking for a short shaft outboard 10-15hp for my 3.1 RIB. Looking for something in good condition - preferably post 1990's, but I am still very much interested in anything good condition - or with slight faults / cosmetic flaws..

Really would like a mercury/mariner 2 cylinder 2 stroke as I've had these engines for long time and really like them! - but of course anything at a sensible price will be great!

Cheers - Jack

Hi Jack I have an evinrude 15 short shaft if you are interested, think its a 90's engine, seems to work ok but have not tried it on a boat only in the bin, its all there a little cosmetically challenged as they all get after a few years of taking on and off and storing, if you are interested I will put some pictures on

I was thinking of asking £450 for it on e bay but will let it go on here for £420, there is no fuel tank but can show it working, the only thing I have found is the throttle cable will need replacing at some time but works ok

Found a 2006 mercury 2T s/s 15hp - paid a little more than I wanted to (£1000) but it is in as new condition, hoping to keep it nice and then I'll hopefully be able to get my money back or at least a good portion of it when / if the time comes..

Deciding factor with it was that it was located literally 5 mins away from me haha

*edit - typo*

If you don't have to spend anything on it for a good few years apart from servicing and keep it in good condition you should do ok and a least you won't have a hernia from lifting it hopefully, at that price think its a good buy

Haha there is that - easy to pick up for sure! I used to have an 8hp mariner which was a great engine, really served me well.. Pushed my 3.1 sib at 21 mph.. Wondering if the 15 will manage much more than that tbh..

Been reading that the tohatsu 18hp is supposed to be even better? Never owned a tohatsu.. But I got offered a nice 2003 18 for £750 a few months ago before I was looking for an engine.. Hopefully I won't live to regret turning it down!
