Has anyone one here used the above product (it's from the same stable as "Weld" and "Marine Weld").

I need to seal multiple leaks in a rusty (once) galvanised water gutter. The surface is rusty and wet - this stuff looks like it might work. Any thoughts if you have used it or any other recommendations gratefully considered.

A new gutter will cost me €1000 so I'm hoping for a cheap fix :rolleyes:

I know it is with rags and sticks but looking at the latest info, I see Doug from Stormforce has a boat due in and also Jimbo is on a Clipper and due in. A good hard race by all accounts from those who have finished.

Really just trying to see if anyone had seen this before. After a few years the webbing on the winch on the trailer wore through so I replaced the hook with a new set up. This was about 2 years ago.

I used the hook that came with a car towing lead. About 3 metres and about 2 tonnes. I then connected the webbing to a D shackle with a clove hitch and 2 round turns. The webbing ended up on the round part of the D shackle. The D shackle then through the towing hook eye. This saw a season of use without any (observable) problems.

Last weekend had the RIB out and when I was about to attach the hook to the RIB I realised that the D shackle had failed and had come apart just under the webbing knot.

I am quite surprised at this as the D shackle should be rated to approx 6 tonnes. I fact I have a feeling that it has been pulling the RIB out whilst broken as it is now slightly deformed.

Is there anything that may have caused this failure that I have missed?

I have a consignment of two boxes, each weighing about 20kg, going to
the same address in the USA.

Any suggestions for the most cost effective way of getting them there in a timely manner? I know that Fedex or DHL will do it, but wondered if there are any better value alternatives?

Picked up one of this lot's car units for not a lot of money in a supermarket last week, and having had it on the screen for a few days, it would appear the POI database is, well, how do I put this? somewhat out of date! I passed the site of a petrol station shown on the unit which I know closed about 8 years ago... :rolleyes:

No problem thinks I, I got a POI cruncher that talks to everything, use a couple of POI sites to grab the latest databases, and job done. Then I discover it won't aknowledge any POI files on my GPS. So I treat the GPS as a USB mass storage device, and find the POI files in the GPS have a ".map" extension.

Now, Both my waypoint / POI grinders have Navman's save option as a CSV file, which I can save & open in Excel. Is this a simple case of "save as" followed by a rename, or is the "in GPS" file a special format?

We could do with a huge favour, obviously in return for some beer vouchers...

A replacement delivery of safety equipment is stuck at Southampton docks for the bank holiday, the sailing club that it is for needs them for tomorrow morning and we cant get a courier to commit to getting it to them.

If any RIB netters are driving, or even boating about the solent today and would be able to help us out we would be hugely grateful. A bit of a long shot, so apologies now for the sheer cheek.

I've just been checking my on-line email client and found that I'm being targeted by about 80 spam mails a day. Obviously these get filtered out before they get downloaded by outlook and thunderbird, but I was surprised by the amount I was being targeted by.

I guess I blame Mrs Hightower for giving out my email address willy nilly but the spam email that has me baffled is one that says it 's from me :] How's that possible?

Is there anything that I can do to reduce these spams other than change my address or just let the filter do it's job?
