Hi,

not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but can anyone recommend any of the training centre's in the south-west that offer the Advanced Powerboat Certificate. It's all very well looking at the school's website, but I do believe in getting personal recommendations. :eh:

though I guess you're all going to be too nice to each other, and tell me that they are all wonderful, and let's humour the new kid :)

Colin, many thanks,

looked at the Dartmouth school, forgot to look at the Brixham & Dartmouth school... my mistake. :]

Don't suppose anyone knows about the Tiger Bay school, as it means no overnighting anywhere (which, believe me, would be a good thing...)

I e-mailed Tiger Bay earlier this week, but had no reply. Do they close for Christmas? :eh: It's not that I'm in a rush...

What area are you looking at doing your course?
What Course are you looking at doing?
When are you hoping on taking your Course?
The South west is quite a large area!

If your looking at Southampton area from what I have heard they are all well recomended!! There might possibly be another RTC opening up in the Southampton area in the next couple of months! And I have been tols that they are Highly Recommended by many from their other site!

About 2 - 3 hrs drive, depending on which scenic route you choose. And thinking about towing as well, the A350 would be a nightmare, so it would be via Salisbury, and that's become sooo easy, done it so many times now. What part of the harbour is the Poole school at?

And hey, the south-west may sound like a big area to cover, but I don't know how many schools are out there. I'm considering the overnighting aspect, too, so the Poole area, or Brixham/Dartmouth or Tiger Bay (no overnight needed, short drive over the bridge) would all be good.

Honest, I thought you'd all be singing each other's praises, and I wouldn't get a straight answer out of any of you. Thanks for talking to the newbie. It's good not to get treated like an idiot...

...........of courses at http://www.professional-powerboat-training.co.uk/
who are based in Pwllheli which is in North Wales. I appreciate it's a bit of a hike, however I'd thoroughly recommend this place as both Jono Gorton (who can be found on here) is a super fella and his facilities are superb. Further, by doing your course in an area unfamiliar to you to get the benefit of exploring areas you may not get to during your normal cruising outings. Jono would also be able to recommend a number of very good B&B's. Anyway, just a thought - best of luck.

p.s He's always willing to put a good deal together for Ribnet members but don't tell anyone else ;)
