VHF Radio

I am thinking about a hand held VHF radio to add to our kit (we have fixed one on the console). I have had a look at some past threads but was after some current views of what people are useing and how they have performed.

Have a good 'ole search on this one as it's come up time after time.

Thanks for info above Richard & Tim. Richard the Garmin looks a nice unit but a little more than i wanted to go to at the moment. Has anyone any experance of the Entel HT60 unit. I have found them on a number of sites now but not seen before.

I have an ICOM M31??? anyway , what ever model it is its great.... Over the years I have seen lots of radios , between handhelds and fixed units alike... Icom seem to perform the bests out of the lot........

Pay the extra, you know it makes sense and nobody is EVER disappointed with quality.

I agree. Get the M1 Euro V. The M31 self discharges over a matter of 4 or 5 weeks due to its on/off switching which renders it useless if it is a reserve and rarely used and charged. The M1 euro V would be my choice- reliable Li-Ion battery, waterproof etc.

If money is tight the Entel 640 is a good buy £149inc Vat. But the Icom M1V is the best.

Only problem i have is getting it to stay on dual watch but thats down to me not wanting to read the insruction book!
