Hi All

Well, having spent 7 days in Egypt, 6 of them on the Red Sea, I was planning on posting a whole range of RIB pictures to show you.

However - the only 'Inflatable' craft on view all week were a 5 Metre Narwhal RIB being towed by a 45 foot cruiser, and a 14 foot Zodiac, being manned by 3 heavily armed sailors as part of the Tourist Security.

As you will see from the pictures - these are both at extreme range - and you will just have to take my word for the make, model etc .....

Having asked around RIBs are just not popular out there - though the conditions are ideal!

Roll on May Bank Holiday weekend - lets get some serious Ribbing in!

This picture is of a Zodiac Inflatable on the River Nile, pictured from the 10th floor of the Nile Hilton. (It is there - honest - look closely).

This Black Zodiac, with 2 Stroke 55 HP Yamaha Engine, spends 24 hours a day on this stretch of the Nile, and is manned by 3 sailors from the Tourist Police protection unit.

These heavily armed sailors look after the varety of pleasure craft that carry tourists along a 2 mile stretch of the Nile.

On our night cruise this boat spend the entire time crcling us, keeping any other craft from getting anwhere near us. Unfortunately it was too dark then to get a closer picture.

This type of Cruiser was quite common on this section of the Red Sea at Sarm-el-Sheikh.

The 5 Metre Narwhal RIB was unusual - and though we saw this boat several times the RIB was always tied to the stern - not in use!!!

Just what are you smoking in that pipe Graeme?

Just to put your mind's at rest:

The pipe contained nothing more harmful than some Apple and Mollasses Tobacco (Honest Guv).

I actually brought a pipe back wth me - complete with various flavour tobaccos - and the dog at the airport didnt seem to find them offensive or illegal!!!

So, if you see me outside my tent one night on a weekend cruise, puffing away on the old pipe - I may just be reliving those balmy Egyptian nights in the desert .........

........ or I could have found something else to smoke in the pipe .....
