24 Volt Electrics

I will soon be looking to fit a VHF, GPS (already got) and depth sounder/gauge to my RIB who's main electrical system runs on a 24 volt supply.

At first, i was going to wire a 24 - 12v converter in to the system to accept these items however, since then i have been reading my GPS handbook which says that the unit will run on a way more than a 24V system.

Therefore, i am now considering scrapping the voltage converter idea and buying a VHF and depth system which will run on higher voltage.

So, does anybody know of a decent VHF radio and depth gauge that will work on 24V DC?

Thanks in advance

I think you will find that most of the comercial marine VHF's are 12V, when I was installing GMDSS' a few years back all the radios were supplied with step down transformers as I seem to remember the GMDSS battery banks being 24V.
You can get set down transformers easily enough as they are common on comercial vehicals. might have a spare about drop me a pm if interested.
