Searider 4.7 in-hull transducer fitting

Can I fit an in-hull transducer inside the flooding hull of a 4.7 SR? I don't really want to attach it to the transom conventionally as many threads suggest it causes spray/falls off/increases prop cavitation.

Plus I occasionally beach (and ok, hit the bottom whilst moored when the tide is going out) and anything lower than the hull is liable to be ripped off even if it is offset to one side.

Access to inside of hull is easy via the 4 inch drainage hole. There seems to be lots of room to glue it in there.

Plan would be to run cable back out of hole in hull and up transom etc.

Has anyone done or considered this? Suggestions of feasibility/difficulty or options? What would be best transducer if I wanted to attach it to the Garmin 550?

I've got a standard Garmin transducer inside the blocked off flooding hull on my 5.4 and it works ok. The cable goes through the deck though.

Yes, provided you mount it on a non cored single skin bit of the hull as far back and as central as possible.
