Came across one of these at work - HX760S handheld VHF with bluetooth headset:

Haven't had a chance to play with it, but seems like a good idea for those of us who struggle to hear our VHFs?
Cheers
Chris
UK model is HX760E.
There was a review (of several h/h VHFs) in last Sailing Today - the Bluetooth worked well but the mic needs to be in front of your mouth for best TX results.

Sounds great - almost impossible to hear the VHF at speed..

I think that we all have the same problems (hearing the vhf at high speeds)
An option is the extension speakers, or an extra Handset.
I have order for my VHF that which is wireless. http://www.northstarnav.com/en/Products/Communications/Explorer-705---Wireless-Handset-Optional

That would be no differet to having a hand held on your life jacket in terms of volume. Not sure why this would be better than a hand held with a head set to be honest.

Its just a thought of mine ...
