Hi, I have a Garmin Nuvi 310 sat nav and I was thinking of getting the Bluechart for it so I could use it on my 4m rib.
Has anyone done this before and is it worth it?

Garmin bluechart on a nuvi 310?whisper 24 April 2009, 22:17 Hi, I have a Garmin Nuvi 310 sat nav and I was thinking of getting the Bluechart for it so I could use it on my 4m rib. Has anyone done this before and is it worth it? MikeCC 24 April 2009, 22:28 I'm fairly certain it won't work on the 310. Oregon or Nuvi 550 / 620 would be OK. If you got a reference to it working, that would be interesting. whisper 24 April 2009, 22:33 I just found this on the Garmin website: Question: Will BlueCharts and Inland Lakes work on my nüvi? Answer: The BlueChart and Inland Lakes SD cards and DVD software will work in the nüvi. However, they may work with limited capability. This means that the unit may be able to draw all the map features from the BlueChart or Inland Lake software, such as lakes, nav-aids, depth contours, wrecks, etc., but the interactive capability of the maps may be limited. For example, you may not be able to “find nearest marinas” or look up additional text about a specific mapping feature. First, you will need to deselect the preloaded mapping on the unit to properly see this information: 1. Touch the wrench icon 2. Touch Settings 3. Touch Map 4. Touch Map Info 5. Ensure that the is a checkmark next to the Lakes software and no checkmark next to City Navigator Next, select the off-road method of navigation: 1. Touch the wrench icon 2. Touch Settings 3. Touch Navigation 4. Touch Route Preference 5. Select 'Off Road' and choose OK Finally, you will need to make sure you set your Map View to North Up or Track Up. You can do this by following the instructions below: 1. Touch the wrench icon 2. Touch Settings* 3. Touch Map 4. Touch Map View 5. Select either North or Track up 6. Touch OK *Note: This step isn't necessary on all nüvi units To view the BlueChart or Inland Lake Mapping software on our website click the following link: http://www.garmin.com/cartography/ontheWater/ MikeCC 25 April 2009, 06:27 OK, better than I expected! Don't forget though, the 310 isn't waterproof, so you'll need a bag/case of some sort. |
