Something from the bow D ring to the trailer? What do poeple use?

This is to stop the boat from accidently falling off.....Yes?

What have you got on the D ring at the moment? I suspect a Bow painter, if so you could use this to tie the boat off. I use a ratchet strap from the D ring to under the drawbar, I also use a ratchet strap though the transom D rings to the trailer too, this stops the boat from jumping around on the rollers.

I've gone to using the winch strap (primary holding power) and safety chain (in case the strap breaks, the winch lets go, or the hook breaks) from the bow eye to the winch tower, a ratchet strap from the bow eye down to the trailer frame (keeps the bow from bouncing), a strap over the engine pod to both rear trailer corners (keeps the boat from falling off the trailer sideways.) The latter would be the equivalent of transom straps on a boat that has no motor extension.

For motor protection, I use a transom saver, though in my case, I run it between the lower unit and the transom (my boat is a welded plate boat; I'm not too worried about transom damage.)

Hi,never trust just the winch to keep your rib in place,use a strong chain or ratchet strap as a backup on the front and a strong ratchet strap to keep the rear from bouncing.You can never have too many to keep your rib secure.:thumbs:

I use 5mm stainless rope shackled onto the D-eye but I use 2 bits. One to stop the boat going backwards (attached to the winch post) but also one to stop the boat going forwards (attached to the cross beam of trailer behind the drawbar). Seen to many pics of boats launching themselves forwards if the rig is in an accident!

Bit of bungee holds both cables tight and stops them clattering.

I also use an additional ratchet strap (like most people) to stop boat going backwards.

Will try and remember and take some pics next time I'm at the boat.
