Magellan vs Lowrance

I have a Magellan Meridian Colour Hand-Held GPS, and also a Lowrance 110C fitted to the boat.

I use the Mapsend Bluenav Europe software supplied with the Magellan to prepare routes/waypoints etc on my PC, and then planned to copy these over to the Lowrance unit. BUT, it seems there's no east way to do this. The Lowrance unit won't read the file format from the Magellan MMC, either in its' natural state or when converted to an Excel file.

Anyone got any ideas, or is it a case of copying each individual waypoint over manually, then recreating the routes from these?

Nick, when I bought a new Lowrance unit (LCX-25C), I also bought one of their handheld units. Both use the same Navionics charts (and others) and you can copy them back and form on a chip...

Thanks Stoo, I was hoping that one of the 'puter whizz-kids out there would suggest a slightly less expensive option, but this is something I've been considering for a while.

This is quite a good site;

GPS Babel (http://www.gpsbabel.org/)

You can convert file formats etc. I think it does waypoints ok but not route transfer.

Thanks Tom, I tried this & after a bit of seting-up, found it to be exactly what I was looking for. OK, I haven't loaded the 'new' Lowrance Routes into the unit yet, so can't call it an unqualified success just yet, but confidence is high!

I thoroughly commend this programme to anyone with a similar problem.

Thanks again!!
