Does anyone know where i can get hold of fuel flow meters. I believe there is a make called Floscan? Any info gladly appreciated.:)

The Navman one is cheaper at £155 (ish) and distributed by Plasimo. Had problems with the first one when I washed it with a jet wash and it let water in. Replaced free of charge and the second one I sealed with silcone stuff. No problems since.

Mike Garside has fitted one to Magellan Alpha and I've fitted one to Cyanide for Brian. I've done trials on both boats and it seems to be a very accurate system.

I am hoping to collect my new Navman unit this w/end from a certain gentleman from Jersey.

Depending on you budget the Flowscan is very expensive compared to Navman unit. I do not know if they are Better or worse than Navman unit. Some people have commented on the Navman units can be troublesome but have always had a replacement. Not heard anything bad about Flowscan, though not sure how many people have them; possibly due to cost of unit.

You pays your money & makes your choice.

I agree the Floscan are very expensive, but have not found another system that will work with diesel's.

They are the best but are expensive

Fitted one this week and if you ask nicely I'll let you see it - got it from John Bridger in Exeter - and they are indeed distributed by Plastimo who are incapable of organising any form of party in an establishment used for brewing beer! (Unlike John Bridger who were very helpfull!)

Cheers Cookee, however it's a diesel application i'm after and twin tanks, i've had a look at the Floscan website and it seems they have one. Cookee, what time are you heading for Plymouth? We're hoping to go down on Derek's boat but may just drive down.

Gary, since your a wiz with "wires and sparks" could you make us a diesel one ? The fuel flow bit can't be that expensive and a bit of software to take the two reading (supply and return) from each other ?

I have a (diesel) Floscan, so does Mike Garside and so does Mark Wildey. All recently fitted.
You can look and play with mine (oh er missus!) on Saturday and talk there with Andy Cox who fitted mine and Mike's.

ribraff - Kevin the Kitten is taking the boat round to Plymouth and meeting the rest of the convoy in Starehole on Sat morning - I will be there (Plymouth) possibly tomorrow and definitely on Sunday.

Hi pete

The hard bit is the flow transducers, the electronics is easy.

The cost of making lots of them would not be much, but for just one or two it would be cheaper to buy a Floscan.

Like the alarm, it possible but getting enough people to make it work while is the hard bit.
