cable trunking...

hi all,

Now completed the rewire of my new boat. I have a large (mabe 2.5 inch) diameter group of cables running on deck from the rear of the console the the stern, say a 1.5m run. I was thinking of that cable wrap stuff but it looks a bit untidy. are there any other solutions? I would have put them all in a tube when i was doing it but i didn't and now it's too late :mad:

Top hat shaped length of stainless screwed down to the deck over the top of the cables.

I had the same problem last year, bought some ducting tube and cut it neatly down the middle then wrapped it round. it is the stuff most people use (but they don't cut it!) and it worked pretty well with a couple of cable ties to hold it. however it has now kinked and is not ideal. thinking of zipped neoprene or even hypalon as an alternative this year...

last one of ours came from humbers with wires etc in corrugated black plastic tubing slit along length for fitting after wires were done. Works fine with no cable ties or anything else and its easy enough to shove some more in if you fit anything else. Local koi pond shop should have loads of it in various diameters. Their smaller diameter tubing is handy for bilge pumps etc.

chose the spira-wrap in the end, looks good, but a good mood required (and beer) before you start to do it, it can be a bit fidly :D
