Fitting fixed VHF radio

I am considering fitting a fixed VHF to my Avon 4.Om Adventurer. Unfortunately I am not much of an electrician but I can see a number of electrical wires under the centre console with blanked off plugs. As far as the electrics are concerned is it simply a matter of plugging the VHF into the correct wires and if so which colours. Thanks

Has the boat been fitted with VHF before?.

If not is is quite unlikley that any of the wiring is for VHF, more likley to be engine instrument or other options that have not been fitted..

I would wire the VHF direct to the battery or distrubution panel if hteir is one using at least 32*.02 (1.5mm sq) wire, bigger if poss via the recomended fuse.

Use red for 12V +ve and Black for 0V/GND and label each wire so when you look later you know whats what.
