Icom battery

Does anyone know where i can get a "BP-160" battery for my Icom IC-M10E.
My battery is dead! - but the radio works OK with a friends battery.

Searching the web it looks like its now obsolete :(

Jools, have you tried RS components? Pretty comprehensive stock! Trade counters all over the country or delivery!

Sorry Guys
for being slow on this one, if you need icom bits like new battery packs etc recomend you give icom a call on 01227 741741 asking for parts, they have been very helpfulling the past.
With the M10 make sure you get the bigger of the battery packs.
From memory the out put power on those rigs are controlled by the voltage of the battery pack. Otherwise Sparkright will rebuild the battery pack for you at a fraction of the price of a new one.

Hi Ribald

Hand-held battery packs are rarely available from anyone except the manufacturer. I can't find sparkrite either. However, it is often possible to diy with packs. I have done on several occasions. Rules are:
1 open the pack very carefully. packs are usually a tight fit and having to glue them up will probably preclude you getting them back in the HH.
2 use the same sort of cell - ie nicad for nicad, not nimh for nicad (different charge regime)
3 use tagged cells as replacements
4 note carefully how the temp sensor is wired up (or put the fire out yourself!)
5 emery the tags and tin them so that very thin solder bonds can be used. (commercially, they weld these)
6 be very careful with the insulation components - there is rarely room for a 1mm error.
