Not so long ago I updated my Navionics electronic chart and got the card reader and the compact flash 28G which covers the UK & Ireland. I use the chart with my Raychart 435i GPS chartplotter.

I have more or less worked out how this works on my laptop but just can't get the info saved on the compact flash.

Would apprieciate any info how to transfer waypoints & routes from laptop to compact flash card

What PC software are you using to view the charts / create waypoints etc?

Slightly off topic but does anyone know where I can get a Navionics card reader (without software). It seems that all of the plotter software needs either the raymarine or Navionics readers (I gather they are the same). I just want to be able to look at Navionics charts at home, not do anything fancy so don't want to have to get PC plotter or the Navionics equivalent! Not concerned about waypoint transfer etc.

Had a similar problem,I have found that you need (ZRAYE86026 Raymarine)
cardreader.

Plus the Free version of Planner Version 6 (https://www.raymarine.com/raymarine/Default.asp?site=1&SECtion=3&Page=1590&Parent=145)
to enable your computer to recognise the Navionics Charts.
Its obviously more than you require, but it is a means to and end.
There may well be an alternative that I am not aware of !

Yep I have the same problem, my car reader works with the navionics nav planner but not the raymarine software, however at the boat show asked navionics about it and they said it should work as they both use the same card reader.

anyone any ideas?

Is the card reader not just a standard card reader?
has anyone tried a generic Compact flash card reader?
It would be interesting to know if it works.

nope the navionics charts use a hardware copy protection that means you have to use their chart reader :-(
