The squelch on my icom radio has gone ! The radio appears to work fine (I did a radio check with coastguard) but I cant seem to adjust the squelch. When I turn the squelch knob fully from one side to the other I get no noise.
Any help please ?? :eh: :eh: :eh:

Mine is fixed and 4 yrs old...
Have a look here and identify the model : http://www.icomuk.co.uk (http://www.icomuk.co.uk/categoryRender.asp?categoryID=3510&searchExact_productsCategory=4953&searchExact_productsCategory2=4953&searchExact_productsCategory3=4953&searchExact_productsCategory4=4953&searchSortField=productsName&searchSortMethod=az)
I suspect that the squelch pot has seized and you have stripped the inside of the knob. Seems to be a common problem.
Try pulling the knob off and then seeing if the pot underneath moves. If it doesn't then apply WD40, clean up the pot and gently try and get it moving with pliers. Then contact the nice Mr Jon ICOM Brooks for a new knob.

I think you need to call the repairs dept at Icom +44 1227741741.
but before you get put throught to them it might be worth ask for Jon if he is in.
Also WD40 rots the water proof seals on the spinals silicon grease is much better
