Fitting a transducer

Just aquired a Lowrance M68i S/Map for a bargain £199 - colour GPS & fishfinder. What is the best way to fit the transducer on a rib. There is a bracket with it that screws in through the transom - surely if drilled correctly in the right place and with the washers that come with it, then this won't effect the rib in any way. Read somewhere about epoxy application to inside of hull but transducer efficiency reduced a lot.

What recommendations do you guys in the know suggest.

Do a search, it's been discussed to death. My opinion is, forget the bracket and fix it inside the hull. Silicon sealer laid down without air bubbles does the trick.
