Hi
Navman suite of electronics all gone crazy.
Faults now too numerous to list. Basically all items, fuel flow,speed, depth, chart plotter and fish finder all giving defragmented displays and rubbish on screen. the chart plotter fills the screen with black lines only and wont power down in the normal way.
I need a specialist who has experience of these items/Navman, as I fear someone less experienced will adopt a replace until problem solved and it will always be the last item that sorts it!
with everything fitted and hard wired inside the console I would need to be able to leave the boat/trailer at their workshop.
with whom should I be speaking? I am happy to travel, if thats what is needed

Experienced similar probs on our Hysucat, rib got used approx 5 hrs a week 50 wks of year
Went through 3 plotters and 2 fishfinders, getting Plastimo to even acknlowedge a ph call, email like pulling teeth, got every excuse under the sun
we didnt recieve the returns
the guy dealing with it has left
we sent it did u not get it
we will send it again
in the end after waiting 3 and half months for the last return,
I mailed em telling them I was flying to the London Boat show and would make a scene at their stand,
Had a replacement 4 days later

They are seperate units - but link as follows I believe.
speed/depth/fishfinder.
Fuel (may be seperate) but still playing up.
chart plotter is seperate and only links to DSCradio and its antenea

I am aware of the reported poor quality of Navman products. Having seen several posts over the last 12 months. With so many problems well there must be an expert out there with lots of experience!!
I will post an image of the dash board (when I have reduced the image size to allow me to post it)

Had same problem with my 5100i chart plotter:- lots of black lines accross screen and very slow to respond to a key stroke, would'nt turn off etc.
Turned out to be a duff C-map cartridge. Take the chart cartridge out and try it then.
Those very nice people at C-map looked at my cartridge and agreed it was knackered, and were willing to sell me a replacement for full RRP :mad:

It seems a bit odd that they should ALL be playing up at the same time - do they still do it with the engine off??? It may be the alternator is overcharging. IF the problem is still there with the engine switched off then you obviously need to look elsewhere.
Are all the instruments linked? If so try disconnecting them from each other first.

I have a Navman 4150 fishfinder which I already had asked about problems with the transducer which was posted on this forum under Faulty Navman fishfinder and although I replaced 3 transducers so far The unit still doesn't read the depth!The supplier tells me that a large number of transducers are faulty and Navman don't know how many!I am still awaiting my fourth unit which I am told they will test before sending to me.It would appear that the retail supplier is dealing with the problem ,I sent an e-mail to Navman direct and I got a bland "return unit with name and address"I have bitter experience of a similar reply before and never heard a dicky bird since !I will report back when the new unit arrives but I feel that there is a more production related fault that is not being admitted by the company :mad:

same under all conditions ign on/off or cmap cartridge in/out.
cmap cartridges work fine on my PC.
Who can I take it to?

Try running a seperate feed to one of the instruments that is playing up - just 2 wires straight from a 12v battery - i can't believe Navman are so bad they would ALL go wrong!!!

Just to say that I have had very good after sales service from Navman.
At Ribex this year I spoke to their rep about problems with my Fishfinder.He responded by climbing on board and putting his arm in the water and adjusted the transducer for me. A couple of weeks later the chartplotter packed up due to water getting in . I returned the chartplotter to them and made one telephone call and a replacement was with me within a week.

Hi
Got boat in the workshop over the xmas. waited for gap in mince pie rota.
Disconnected all electrics/electronics tidied wiring and reconnected everything. It all works fine now.
presume it was a bad earth or power feed/high resistance.
Sorry for doubting Navmans product. The only worrying part is none of my calls to Navman were returned and my 2 e-mails to their 'contact' via their web site got no reply!
