Lowrance 332 - cheaper in the states

Hi, Im thinking of buying a Lowrance 332c in the states as i can save over 40%. Im over there in a couple of weeks time, so would not have to pay shipping etc.

Now i realise that i wont get a warranty, but will it work over here, i presume that i buy the chart separately in any case.

Any thoughts - is it really worth it to save a couple hundred pounds and then lose the warranty. Are these things reliable?

I bought a Lowrance LMS-320 from the states 3yrs ago and I made a huge saving. It will work over here, but you obviously have to buy the correct Navionics chart for your area separately.

As you've said you won't get a warranty, but I've never needed mine and I've given mine a fair amount of abuse over the years and it still workd perfectly!! Whether its worth the risk is entirely up to you, but Lowrance units tend to be pretty much bombproof. (touch wood!!)

I imported my Eagle Seachamp from the States a few months ago. I have a return to base warranty. It works fine in the UK.

I will need to phone around in the morning and check the price of the charts here. It would make sense as long as the price of the 332 here did not include the chart. I suppose its a small gamble really. To return it for warranty would be approx £50 each way.

That was my thinking on the warranty.

I paid around £200 for the complete set of Navonics XL3 charts to cover the South coast.
