Apart from using the lower leg of your outboard to check the depth - are Fishfinders any use?

If so, and I could only fit a transom transducer - do you use a narrow or wide angle transducer.

Got most of the paint off my prop..... :)

Hi

Try typing "Sounder" in the forum search, Lots on this subject already been covered

or look at

I would recommend the Garmin Blue range as been a good budget sounder.

Cheers

Have a look at the Lowrance X51

Has a really good display and features.
For the price £150 I think its worth looking at.

As far as transom mount transducers, you could use a shoot through.
Most transom transducers can be used in this mode by bedding down onto epoxy resin in the hull.
