What is wrong with the Rayamrine - REALLY good bit of kit!!!
Richard B 02 September 2005, 06:19 A quick look at the usual places shows that not many places have the price of the 3010 advertised, but most seem to do the 2010 for £1299.00 so I guess £1699 is typical street price for the 3010.
Very nice bit of kit that, Roy. Have you compared the Raymarine C120 to it? the C120's screen is even bigger than the Garmin, although a bit more pricey when you add the GPS antenna which is another £200ish. Check out mesltd.co.uk
RibRoy 02 September 2005, 06:30 Compared to Raymarine c 120 , Lowrance 7500 can display north up on one half and course up on the other half when your in split screen modus.
That is really useful.
If you got limited space on the dash, the Lowrance is also a smaller instrument.
Regards Roy

If you haggle around you will find that most people will give the gps aerial away quite cheaply - I paid about £50 for it - Cactus did me a great deal.

Raymarine are NO cheaper in the States - Garmin prob is because they are Yank.
Problem is you will get hit for duty and VAT - they have cracked down a lot lately.

Can the C series not do that as well?
Andy
Manos 02 September 2005, 13:18 Correct Cod.
I said duty and Vat for $600 worth is about £60-£65 (includes post office clerance charges).
I think that you may find that RAY MARINE are more competitively priced in the US too (for some unknown reason:rolleyes: )

What about the nightmare of what to do when you turn it on and nothing happens.
These days electronic equipment suffers from far to many DOA's in my opinion to be risking buying from accross the water.
Th money you save soon gets eaten up when you have to return it to the supplier in a different country.

Cactus seem to want to beat any other quote at the moment so shop around get the best price then put it to Cactus and get it even cheaper

I like the look of the raymarine but i already have the Cmaps for garmin which i got the start of the year seams a shame not to use and the cost of kitting this rib out is running away with me.
I just missed the old model Garmin the 2010 a exdemo but with a full warrenty for £795.00 inc iam just a bit sick as its the unit but with out the radar.

Forgive my ignorance but I thought Garmin used their own Bluechart software - NOT C - Map!!!

Richard B 03 September 2005, 21:05 Forgive my ignorance but I thought Garmin used their own Bluechart software - NOT C - Map!!! I thought the same, unless the 3010 is backwards compatible with older charts? I would check with Garmin... Tel: (01794) 519944
