Am trying to link this up to my radio. Despite 30 minutes on the phone to Garmin- they sent me the wrong cable and I havnt the heart to go back to them.

On the back there are two sets of pins- one is an 18 pin and the other 5 pin.
The 18 pin links up to GPS aerial, power .. ect and is Ok. According to the manual the 5 pin outlet is the one I need to link to a radio, second gps ect.
Unfortunately Garmin Uk - it seems cannot send me a wiring diagram for the 5
pin outlet or connector . I am looking for Nema out,& return. on the five pins.
Anybody with ideas?. The pins are placed as:

Both the manuals on the garmin website state that the 5 pin connector is for future use.

I reckon - (and this is just from reading the manuals i downloaded online) - that your best bet is to try the grey lead from the main 18pin connector with the black as the ground.

This output seems to be able to feed a gps repeater or autopilot - (im assuming you are already not usaing it for an autopilot) - so it should simply be an NMEA output.

Its worth a try anyway.

You may also need to play with the Advanced NMEA output settings to turn off all the superflous garmin proprietry sentences that your VHF will not understand.

Again - this is only what i would try after looking at the manuals i downloaded - i dont own one of these my self. Appologies if youve allready tried this...

thanks Roy - appreciate your help.- I suppose I will forget the 5 pin and branch into the 18pin direct.

I second Roy's post. You need to connect to the 18pin connector. It has two lines for NMEA, Port 1 and Port 2, you can use either so long as you set the port to NMEA on the GPS Menu page. I've done this linkup with my 2006C and Icom 421.
