Which type of transducer works best??

This has probably been answered before but I'm gonna ask it again! :D

Which one is best, transom mounted, thru-hull or in hull (shoot thru)???

I've normally gone for the old transom mounted but I have had mixed results at speed with them.

I'd also like to know what is directly below me on a 9.5m RIB rather than what I've just passed over which points me at a shoot-thru hull transjobby.

Experiences, best methods, ideas....anything gratefully accepted! :thumbs:

Mines fixed in the hull and works through the hull. It's fixed in with Isopon P38 (just make sure you don't get any bubbles in it) Also the position is important max 2ft forward from the transom I think.

Despite I can see where the fish are I still can't catch any!

You lose the water temp facility on the through hull method (unless there is a hole in the hull :D - although the water temp is only an issue if your swimming of the boat and then a big toe in first normally works well :) )

Mine shoots through the hull, and is about 1.2m forward of the transom, in the front of the engine box.

It works at all speeds, and is v. good (except when airborne)!!

P.S. Oh, and it's the bog standard sensor for the garmin 188C.
